Control Your Inverter Smarter – A Fully Automated Solution That Works for You
Qilowatt provides an intelligent solution that makes managing your inverter and battery system fully automatic and more profitable. Stop exporting electricity to the grid when market prices are low, charge your batteries when electricity is cheapest, and sell stored energy when prices are at their highest. If desired, you can also connect your battery system to the flexibility market, allowing you to earn additional revenue by supporting grid balancing—completely automatically.
Modbus R2 – Small Device, Big Impact
At the heart of our system is the Modbus R2, a smart Wi-Fi-enabled device that connects to your inverter via Modbus RTU (RS485). It continuously gathers data from the inverter and intelligently controls energy flows, ensuring that charging, storage, and consumption always take place at the most cost-effective moment.
Unique Feature: Two Built-in Relay Outputs
The Modbus R2 includes two integrated relay outputs that allow you to automate and control additional electrical appliances throughout your home.
For example:
- Limit heat pump operation during expensive electricity price periods, saving more energy for essential appliances that cannot easily be controlled, such as lighting, refrigerators, computers, and other household devices.
- Preheat domestic hot water and heating systems using the SG Ready function, storing inexpensive electricity as thermal energy.
For example, increasing the temperature of a 200-litre hot water tank by 5°C stores approximately 1.1 kWh of energy.
Compatible with: Nibe, Thermia, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Atlantic, Fujitsu, and many more.
Control Almost Any Electrical Appliance
Besides heat pumps, the Modbus R2 can also control:
- Electric water heaters
- Buffer and thermal storage tanks
- Swimming pools
- Air conditioning systems
- Other high-energy-consuming appliances
For example, increasing the temperature of a 1,000-litre thermal storage tank by 10°C stores approximately 11 kWh of energy.
Swimming pools offer even greater storage potential—a 36 m³ pool stores approximately 40 kWh of thermal energy with just a 1°C temperature increase.
Examples of Real-World Automation Rules
Every automation rule can be customized by the user. Here are a few examples:
- Charge the battery from the grid whenever electricity costs less than €0.007/kWh, up to 95% State of Charge (SoC).
- Discharge 5,000 W from the battery during the most expensive hour while keeping 50% of the battery capacity reserved for household consumption.
- Sell the entire battery capacity whenever electricity prices exceed €0.50/kWh, leaving only 10% remaining.
- Allow the heat pump to operate only during the 18 cheapest hours of the day.
- When electricity costs less than €0.03/kWh and the battery is fully charged, increase the SG Ready heat pump’s domestic hot water and heating setpoints by 15%.
Note: Although every setting is fully configurable and accessible to the user, you no longer need to create and manage complex automation rules yourself. Qilowatt Optimizer handles everything automatically. Using artificial intelligence, it continuously analyzes electricity prices, consumption, and battery status in real time to make the best possible decisions, maximizing both your savings and your earnings.
